Government while almost forces
IIT Delhi Director out of his office, and now making it a playground for
proliferating absolutely nonscientific regressive ideas into this premier institution.
Under the garb of how IIT can play role in rural development through Unnat Bharat Yojana Baba Ramdev and
functionary of RSS organization Vanvasi Kalyan Kendra were invited in a
meeting. It included chairman of
IIT Delhi Board of Governors, Vijay Bhatkar.
They discussed importance of cows
in rural development. They deliberated that cows can develop villages. Baba
ramdev suggested that scientists at IIT should study genetic code of cows. This
advisor and self-proclaimed genius does not even seem to know that it is the
job of molecular biologists and there must have been projects studying the
same. And studying genetic code of cows may not help in using them. Just uttering
the phrases without even knowing them is hallmark of him and the like. The Vanvasi
Kalyan Kendra is notorious for spreading anti-minority sentiments and trying to
infuse venom in nature worshipping adivasis in Gujarat prior Gujarat riots. Also,
surprising is that IITs have to contribute a sum of 20 lakhs for the same.
Cows and bulls could be useful
when they were used for cartage and ploughing. Now with technological advances,
it is an attempt to perpetuate backwardness in the name of nationalism. (They
associate cow with nation).
This followed pushing so called Sanskrit/Vedic
science in Indian Science Congress (Indian Science Congress 2015: Goebbels Takes Birth in Science),
even earlier attempts to ‘de-scientify’ existing knowledge and institutions (One Step Backwards: 100 Miles Backwards ). Many Institutes have no heads as this
government is not able to find RSS stooge for same. ( An older post)
Worse is the kneeling down of IIT
professors to such thing. Either they have no scientific understanding or their
carriers is making them sycophant of regressive rule.
